This story comes from a trade union organiser based in Glasgow and captures the huge protests in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, that took place globally during the initial lockdown and summer of 2020.
Much has changed during the pandemic, but much has remained the same. Global inequalities exasperated during a global pandemic. I work as a trade union organiser based in Glasgow, and I’ve had reservations about submitting a “workers’ story”. But what brought me into the trade union movement was the fight against racism and a fight which has become even more necessary during this pandemic. Covid-19 has disproportionately taken the lives of so many people of colour. A pandemic doesn’t sweep away the struggles that continue against the deep-rooted inequalities that exist at the very core of the system within which we live. This digital collage pays tribute to all those workers and communities who continue to resist.
